Rarity & Collectability

The alpha Mox Emerald is not a very difficult card to find in BGS 9.5 condition due to generally good print and cut qualities.  There are 35 copies of overall grade 9.5 and 1 copy in BGS 10.  Of those, 14 cards are quad or higher.

This specific copy is a quad with all subgrades being 9.5, but has slight narrow surface flaws on the front of the card that is only visible under the right lighting conditions.

I do find it worth mentioning that a printed emerald on card stock is now worth significantly more than a real emerald.

Impressions & Artwork

The emerald is held in a necklace by a gold setting, a classic color combination.  Does anyone know what the creature is?  After reaching out to the artist, Dan himself confirmed that he had no specific creature in mind.

“So you have an eye for details. The Mox Emerald had no specific creature in mind. It just happened.” -Dan Frazier

Dan Frazier also seems like a very humble person, for those that get a chance I would recommend reading this interview.
